Transforming tourism for people and planet.
My portfolio:
-
With a deep-rooted passion for sustainability and a global mindset shaped by experience across the globe, I work at the intersection of tourism, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. I help destinations, businesses, and organizations create tourism that truly makes a difference. With over 18 years of experience, I combine creativity and collaboration to turn sustainability principles into practical strategies.
-
I believe that knowledge and passion have the power to change the world. And together, we’re stronger! Over the past years, that has been my motivation. Today, more than ever, it’s crucial to join forces to create better places to live and travel—benefiting ourselves and our planet.
-
I collaborate internationally with researchers, global players like WWF and GSTC, consultancies, destination, ministries, NGOs, storytellers and filmmakers driven by a core belief: that tourism, done right, can be a force for good.
Services:
-
With many years of experience in tourism consultancy, I specialize in developing sustainable tourism strategies at both national and international levels. My expertise includes creating criteria and indicators, conducting monitoring studies, and assessing existing tourism products and programs. To ensure long-term success, I focus on proposals that also consider the needs of local communities, fostering regional and cross-sectoral integration.
-
To promote a sustainable future, destinations need to educate and support their tourism stakeholders—hoteliers, operators, DMOs, and more. I am happy to contribute as a trainer for the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP). This program offers a 2-3 day in-person or online course designed to equip participants with modern tools and resources for sustainable practices. Customized training sessions tailored to specific company or destination needs are also available.
-
In 2016 I joined the Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC®) on behalf of WWF. This includes being a member of Recognition Decision Making Committee (formerly known as the Assurance Panel), the International Standards Committee and the Destination Stewardship Committee. The GSTC manages the GSTC Criteria, global standards for sustainable travel and tourism; as well as providing international accreditation for sustainable tourism Certification Bodies.
The Recognition Decision Making Committee seeks to recognize standards and certification programs that comply with the GSTC Criteria for sustainable tourism. -
Credible verification of sustainable policies, operations, and impacts is essential for transforming tourism. Since 2016, I have been working on developing tourism criteria and indicators to support this shift—whether by revising the global GSTC standards or creating regional tools like a sustainable tourism index for South Tyrol.
-
I bring over a decade of experience in destination marketing, international outreach, and B2B cooperation—such as engaging tour operators, press presentations, and trade shows. From 2009 to 2019, I served as the official representative of Brandenburg in the Netherlands for Tourism Marketing Brandenburg GmbH.
-
I have hands-on experience organizing and managing conferences, workshops, awards, and study trips. My portfolio includes notable projects such as:
The federal “Sustainable Tourism Award 2012” (Germany)
The “European Destination Award of Excellence 2010” for the German Tourism Association and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology
The conference “Tourism, Biodiversity and Climate Change” in Berlin for the Federal Ministry of the Environment

Great sustainability work deserves to be told well. I help you find the story behind your achievements and turn it into communication your guests and partners understand: marketing concepts, key messages, texts for websites and reports, and content for social media.
My focus is on the strategy and the words. When your story calls for film or photography, we bring it to life at Æthos Studio.
-
Stories that move, told on film
Some stories need more than words. Together with my husband Philip Koschel, I work on film and visual projects at Æthos, a studio for strategic storytelling. We create image films, documentaries and photography for destinations, hosts and organisations that want to show what they stand for.
